This posture is from a powerful and therapeutic yoga series also referred to as 26 & 2, Original Hot Yoga or the Bikram Yoga Method.
Part of the spine strengthening series, Cobra Pose can improve overall posture and increase the spine’s flexibility.
Here’s how to get into Cobra at home:
🐍 Begin lying on your stomach and place your chin on the floor.
🐍 Bring feet together, toes and heels together, pressing the tops of your feet into the floor.
🐍 With your hands underneath your shoulders, bring elbows close to the body. Draw your shoulder blades back and down.
🐍 Press your pubic bone to the floor.
🐍 Inhale, lift your head and chest off the floor, engaging the back muscles to lift up. Keep your elbows slightly bent. Lift your hands off the floor to a height that is comfortable.
🐍 Exhale, lower yourself back down.
Repeat for two or three rounds.
